Honoring Those Who Serve
This nation owes gratitude to our veterans. We need to be there for them and honor veterans throughout the year. May God comfort, strengthen, and restore those who have given so much.
This day holds a special place in my heart. I am proud to have continued a four-generation tradition of service in the United States Armed Forces. I served in the Navy Reserve; my father served in the Navy; both of my grandfathers served in the Army; and my great-grandfather served in the Army. Afterward, I served as a staff officer in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary (2014–2019).
In 2019, I hung up my uniform to focus on teaching biblically orthodox Christian theology. Yet the values that service instilled in me—duty, integrity, and love of country—continue to shape the way I live and work today. Service comes in many forms, and my heart will always be with the United States and those who defend it.
In addition to remembering our veterans, we must not forget their families. Let us honor them with more than just thoughts: talk with a veteran and hear their story, support organizations that serve veterans, and share a meal with them. None of this is in vain. Take this day to remember veterans and their families in your prayers, and cherish them in your heart.
Thank you, veterans and those currently serving. Your service has helped secure our freedoms and inspired generations—especially my own. Today, as we honor your sacrifice, past and present, may we each strive for a better world and live in a way worthy of your service. May God bless you and keep you.
